farmcat added to gene pool

American Curl kittens gene pool.

Unregistered cats are brought into the small breeding pool to keep it healthy.  The unregistered cat will add "suvival of the fittest genes " where breeding out to a pedigree cat from another breed might add the faulty genes bred over and over into that breed.  This does not suggest that pedigree cats have a lot of defects, but it is always good to bring in new genes for a wider gene pool where the breed started with one cat.
Here is our new queen.  The older queens have been bred back into the genepool, new blood was needed.  I imported a new stud but he had my bloodlines in already, we had to act.
We are so happy with the results.  Great success.  Lovely and healthy kittens.  The American Curl lines were healthy, but now we know they will remain so.
Her litter was a great success.
and they are even prettier grown up.  The straight ear Americancurl cats/kittens are lovely and the best news is that these kittens had the calm friendly disposition popular in the American Curl breed.  The kitten above and photo below.
A special thank you to human mom for the photo.

Samoa Gem's American Curl Cat females

quality Siamese and American Curl kittens
The curl  ear of the American Curl cat is the main attraction of this cat breed.
These are the American Curl females we are breeding at the moment.  We have been breeding with two girls most of the time, and the plan is to bring in one or two more females and red tabby and tortoishell.
We bred mainly with this line but many moggies have been tried in-between and most were bred only once.  One very good characteristic was constant in all the kittens, no matter how bad the ears turned out, the kittens were always very friendly and loving.   Most people who saw one  of the American Curls at a friend did not care what the ears look like, they just want the temperament.

Katya baby kitten
 nearly 6 months old

Our next queen.  She is at the moment a little princess. This girl is very lively and simply enjoys human attention.  Her kittens would be very good pets.  Important is that she is also healthy without allergies

Cubby the nautical cat is an American Curl short hair.
His ears need a little more curl but his intelligence and personality is top of the scale.

Hurry up we do not have all day.
.That's more like it. Full speed ahead.

Well done Skipper !

Cubby celebrated his first birthday enjoying a sushi meal with mom Wendy and dad  Glenn.

The American Curl cat is a new breed with healthy "survival of the fittest" genes and therefore the American Curl kittens have a strong immune system. It is up to the humans to select healthy cats as breeders to keep the American Curl breed strong.

Breeding for perfect American Curl ears and show quality cats are very difficult. Exactly how the curl ear is inherited is not clear. Supreme America Curl parents may give pet quality kittens and a cat with a bad American Curl ear may give supreme kittens.

The American Curl cat may have short , medium or long hair. These felines are
easy to groom, healthy, friendly and not neurotic.

This tortoiseshell-tabbypoint girl is gorgeous. Her sire is Grand International Champion Samoa Gem's El Donna Evita Kenzo. She enjoys a life in Namaqualand running through the dirt and climbing trees - she would be a doll bathed and brushed sitting on a pillow, but her answer was " ".

The American Curl cat on the photo above right is a medium hair girl Siriuksen Candy, bred in Finland by the Siriuksen cattery (photo by her owner Pirkko-Liisa Tarvonen). Our stud Grand Champion Samoa Gem's Sarcenet Enigma on the photo left is the sire of her parent.

Stunning kittens!

Our American Curl cats are not afraid of water and they do not hunt. Those are concepts that they do not understand at all. They love all creaturers including bugs but especialy humans, other cats and

a dog is the best pal.

Note how the kitten plays without nails showing.

A very special reminder to myself and fellow American Curl breeders - Breeding out to unregistered cats while it is still permitted is very important, as healthy lines for the future depends on what breeders do now.
